High Carb Hannah went vegan, high carb, low fat, plant based diet and lost 70 pounds
She talks about supplements and other things she added on her journey.
Tatum Truter I think Hannah included blackstrap molasses in one of her What
I Ate videos once so I’m pretty sure it’s fine plus it’s packed with
minerals and not empty calories like refined sugar!
I think that both mollases and peanut butter are fine. Blackstrap mollases
have so many nutrients that are needed in a healthy diet, and peanut butter
(as long as it is not full of added sugars) can be a perfectly healthy
source of healthy plant fats.
Personally I like molasses, it’s got vitamins/minerals like iron, though
not a lot, it’s better than nothing. Also since it’s stronger I find I
don’t use as much compared to refined sugar too.
It’s better than sugar, but it’s still not a “health food.” It’s processed,
and all processed foods are worse than their whole counterparts. But no one
eats enough molasses to affect weight loss.

Shadow Feng yes, but try eating brown or black rice once in a while; the
husk (right word? I’m not a native speaker, sorry!) contains a lot of fiber
and other good stuff! 🙂
Wow, I definitely need that thyroid supplement. I just saw that it has
Vitamin B12 in it.. Is it enough for the daily intake or should I still
supplement it?
+Vegan in Washington There’s nothing wrong with people educating themselves
on their health concerns instead of resorting to seeking health advice from
people who took one nutrition class in their eight years of being advised
to prescribe drugs from Big Pharma 🙂 As a person with hypothyroid, a
doctor will prescribe thyroid medication (such as synthroid or its generic
version) which will target the thyroid function and not its symptoms. Once
your thyroid is barely in the normal range, a hypothyroid will go off
medication but will still have all the symptoms. I have gone through this
process with several doctors. They just want to get another prescription
under their belt and get you out the door. To each her own! 🙂
+Lacey Anne It’s clear that you are an expert in the field of nutrition.
What I find weird though, is that after all the effort you put in,
carefully and objectively reviewing the peer reviewed literature, that you
can still come to the bold conclusion that low dose supplementation with
methylcobalamin is ‘fine’ or even optimal. It seems more likely to me that
your claims are merely based on personal anecdotes rather than scientific
evidence.
Well since I found your 70 lbs and gained it this past year I am going to
take your advice and get rid of it! Thanks for the I go see me doctor
Tuesday I am going to see if she thinks the thyroid energy will help me! I
did get my thyroid tested so we will see the results as well.
I got a thyroid test and it all came back normal but I still feel like I’m
not hormonally balanced, I have irregular periods, dry skin, not a lot of
energy or motivation, so I think I’ll try that supplement and the
probiotics too. Also, hydration is so important! People don’t drink enough
water, they really don’t.
JomoWhore Do you eat enough fat ? that’s really important for hormonal
balance 🙂 (and eating enough calories is important too). Have you tried to
check on cronometer if you’re getting everything ?
I’ve used cronometer before but not lately. I suppose I don’t get much fat,
since I try to avoid oil and I don’t have much avocado or hummus or
anything like that often. I guess I could start monitoring again and try to
get 15% fat.
I’m like this too I find omega fatty acids help me so I just toss in some
hemp seeds into my smoothies or on top of salads or make a seed milk with
it. I’m starting probiotics too, hopefully it’ll help!
justchillinxo she said in a video a few months ago that she dyed her hair

Hannah your symptoms sound like low Iron or being Anemic
i would definitely get some Bloodwork done
you seem to be eating enough Nori to get enough Iodine for your Thyroid
over supplementing the Thyroid can lead to serious problems even symptoms
of Graves disease
I also feel it’s a bit dangerous to recommend thyroid supplement, I would
prefer to have a (or several) medical advice on that. (according to Amazon
comments, it mentions that it’s not recommended for people taking
hypothyroid medication)
+Isa_DPB anything that may alter the function of your hormones is

I take thyroid medication for hypothiroid, so I would not dare taking this

at what cost or my health…

+Isa_DPB absolutely I would not touch it or recommend it , and you are

It is very hard on the Heart and over stimulates your Adrenals

that when I had binge eating? because I never know when I’m full and I
could eat forever
+A. you’re just anecdotal proof, everyones bodies works different. i mean
your body didn’t cause you to put on too much weight and then rebalanced
which is great for you and i’m happy for you but this won’t be the case for
everyone.
+fff fff That makes sense and I agree with you. I was lucky I didn’t put on
weight even though I did expect it to happen & I even accepted to be going
through life being overweight for a couple of months. Anyway, I am just
trying to help and this is me putting in my 2 cents. I sincerely believe
that you should listen to your body, even if you’re physically full. If
your mind is telling you to eat more, then do it. There’s a reason why it’s
saying that. I am glad I went through with it and I can recommend it to
anyone who’s dealing with what I was dealing with a couple months back.
It’s over now, I am not obsessed with food anymore, I am not ALWAYS hungry
anymore. Everything is 100% back to normal. There are people that believe
in metabolic damage, there are people that don’t. Clearly you’re the second
one and clearly I am the first. If you do not agree with my method, then
don’t follow it. Gaining weight was never a big deal to me, if that’s what
would’ve happened to me to get to my ideal weight long term, I was okay
with it. I feel like this is something I had to go through to become a
normal eater and now that it’s over, my beliefs about these things are only
stronger.
Hannah, what do you think about tea or caffeine? I love hibiscus tea and
have it daily. But what about coffee? I know it doesn’t exactly fall under
a whole food but is it bad for you?
I am on the third day of full raw vegan diet and I am farting a
LOTTT…….There are no probiotics for sale here in west Panama. I’ll
order them online and meanwhile accept the bloated tummy.
I’m on the fifth day now and things are slightly getting better, now I just
feel bloated right after a meal and not bloated in the morning. I just
think that I go to the bathroom too often.
Yeah in the beginning you go to the bathroom a lot. Your body just isn’t
used to so much fiber, one it starts to regulate itself it shouldn’t be
quite as often. It will get better!!
Anytime!! You’re definitely gonna go more than you did on a sad diet, but
your body will balance itself out once it gets used to all the changes!

you were in the back* photo) and just starting this, and you were

excited, but very emotional when going through the meats and egg sections
(after watching the Gary Yourofsky video). So I am going to do a video

happening (will not be loaded to YouTube though) …wish me luck.
BTW I buy from IHerb in the U.S. (I am in Australia) and I take Probiotics
by NOW Foods, and a bunch of other products recommended to me by a
reputable PT and friend that lives in my City.
I also, at the moment doing 16 hr intermittent fasting, which seems to be
working and suits me with my works hours. I work 3-5 nights a week doing
music/karaoke gigs, so I never go to bed until approx. 3-4am any day, as I
find it is better to stick to a regular sleep time (as much as I can) but I
get 7-9 hours of sleep.
I’ve been vegetarian for 2months, but suddenly I gave up. Craving and
eating fried chicken specificly. I want to start all over again before I
tried veganism. But when I was thinking to restart, I was thinking How can
I gave up chicken, because I cant. Please help me.
Personally I’d cut the chicken out first. I’ve read that chicken is more
environmentally taxing than fish. There’s also the egg industry that’s
really horrible. Fish has Omega 3s as well as protein, so I guess if you
had to cut out either chicken or fish, the fish would be the most
nutritious/”bang for your buck.”
But…do you like fish or chicken better? If you cut out the food you least

Honestly I don’t think this is something you can ask others about. For me I
