I don’t know for sure where these women are from, but it looks like they
are from a country OTHER then the US! Not that it matters, we all
imagreated from over sears somewhere anyway!

They sure did! I was as surprised as you. All images were scanned from the
original publications.

Based on descriptions in the book “Daughters of the Lost Century,” most
bloomers were dark blue. Many women made their own so they could be any
color.

They’re wearing “bloomers” which were very controversial back then. Women’s
exercise garb was a driving force in the “women’s dress reform movement” of
the late 19th century.

You’re right, “Physical” would have been a great choice. Next video
perhaps…

This is pretty interesting. When i think of other centuries, I never think
of what people of that time did to work out! A lot of the pictures look
like dance classes!

I posted the video for my friends to view on facebook. I remember doing a
few of these exercises in gym class during the 80’s & a lot of the
equipment was still seen on playground back then. If you go to historical
places like The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina you will see
the gymnasium of the house and some of the workout equipment of the 1800’s.
Great video & very funny.
